The Fifth Contemporary Critical Perspectives Conference: Contemporary Women Novelists, 14th – 15th April, University of Roehampton

By | April 7, 2011

We will be sponsoring the Contemporary Women Novelists Conference (the Fifth Contemporary Critical Perspectives conference) taking place next week from the 14th – 15th April at Roehampton University, UK.

This conference celebrates the achievements of contemporary female novelists such as Nicola Barker and Sarah Waters. Author Fay Weldon will be speaking at the gala dinner which should make for a really interesting evening.

The conference is run by Sebastian Groes and is based around our series Contemporary Critical Perspectives – for which he is one of the series editors (along with Jeannette Baxter, University of East Anglia, and Sean Matthews, University of Nottingham). The guides in the series provide critical essays, cultural analysis and discussion of major contemporary authors. We're publishing the fourth book in the series on Julian Barnes in June. The book includes contributions from top Barnes scholars and a Foreword by biographer and journalist Andrew Lycett. You can read a preview of this book by clicking on the widget above.

We have also published books in the series on Kazuo Ishiguro, Ian McEwan and J.G. Ballard. If you are attending the conference and are interested in writing for the series do speak to Sebastian! If not then he can be contacted through the conference website.
