Creativity is increasingly important in an age of advanced audience
sophistication. It's no longer enough to follow standard writing techniques –
becoming a first-class screenwriter demands not only command of craft, but
understanding how to unleash and harness creativity. We are delighted to announce that Craig
Batty & Zara Waldeback, authors of The Creative Screenwriter, are taking part in an exciting BFI Filmstore event – a
lively workshop in which they will reveal some great tips and new insights into their innovative
approach to screenwriting, and experience how these exercises can improve your
writing to make it exciting, fruitful and inspired.
Zara is a screenwriter, script editor and lecturer. Now living in Sweden, she
previously taught at numerous UK universities and worked in development for
British Screen, First Film Foundation and Film London. She's written shorts,
features and TV series, and specialises in creating online methods to train
screenwriters.
Craig teaches screenwriting at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He's a
writer, script editor and script consultant. His books include 'The Creative
Screenwriter' and 'Writing for the Screen' with Zara, and on his own,
'Screenplays: How to Write and Sell Them' and 'Movies That Move Us: Screenwriting
and the Power of the Protagonist's Journey'.
Craig and Zara will be signing copies in the Filmstore after the workshop.
